The Barnard College Club of New York has been a source for social networking in midtown New York City for metropolitan area Barnard alumnae since 1926.
BCCNY sponsors a variety of activities. Our popular “Distinguished Speaker Series” features alumnae, faculty and authors who present topics of current interest. Past speakers have included The New York Times journalists Judith Miller, Joyce Purnick and Susan Chira. We have also presented NYC Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum, United States District Judge Miriam Cedarbaum, former New York City Councilwoman Ronnie Eldridge and Constitutional Law expert Floyd Abrams. We have also hosted Barnard Professors Stephanie Pfirman, James Basker and Rosalind Rosenberg.
We arrange docent-guided tours of important museum shows and trips to all five boroughs of New York City. Our signature events are the Opening Reception, a fall cocktail reception, a Holiday Party in mid-December, and an Annual Dinner in the spring.
Selected events are co-sponsored with other Barnard alumnae groups such as Project Continuum. Upcoming events are described on the Activities page, the BCCNY Calendar and Barnard Network Notes.
The MetropoliTones, are a NY City-based a cappella group comprised of Seven Sisters alumnae.
They are looking for talented Barnard graduates to join our group, and
are planning to hold auditions soon (most likely a weekend in January).
They are interested in all voice parts as well as vocal percussion/beatbox.
More specifics about auditions will be posted within the next few weeks on their website, www.metropolitones.com
